Salt Therapy for Children

When we utter the word “Children” the very first image comes of “bubbly, smiling, and energetic children”.

For healthy and happy children, there are 3 critical elements behind.

  1. Stable, responsive and nurturing care-giving
  2. Safe, supportive environment
  3. Appropriate nutrition

It is imperative to know that right from the pregnancy till the early years of a child’s life are very important for later health and development.

The brain develops most rapidly in the initial years of a child’s life. Various environments, in which a child is born, grow-up & learn to adapt to the various situations, shape the developing brain. During these important years, the foundation is laid which affects many critical factors including, a child’s physical and mental health, longevity, lifelong capacity to learn, the ability to adapt to change and the capacity for resilience against adverse circumstances. Nurturing and responsive care for the child’s body and mind is the key to support healthy brain development. Right nutrition and balanced diet when provided can of great support from better immunity to proper functioning of nervous system.

While we can take care of the most of the crucial elements, few things are just not in our control. Air Pollution is one of the issues which have become a serious issue for India. It puts serious impact on the health of Children.

According to report of WHO, children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of air pollution is that they breathe more rapidly than adults and so absorb more pollutants. Air pollution also impacts neurodevelopment and cognitive ability and can trigger asthma and childhood cancer. Children who have been exposed to high levels of air pollution may be at greater risk for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease later in life.

In the crucial years of building phase, we often find children suffering from persistent cold, cough, ear pain, sore throat, skin infection, sinusitis, bronchiolitis etc.

What is Salt Therapy and how it helps to promote healthy children?

Salt Therapy is Drug Free Therapy which uses element “Salt” as the one and the only component. It can be safely provided to children from age 1.5 years to treat allergies, enhancing their respiratory wellness, building immunity against common cold-cough and city pollution. It also helps in alleviating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Another important point for considering Drug Free therapies for children is “Growing issue of drug resistance”. Drug resistance refers to the reduction in effectiveness of a medication. WHO started World Antibiotic Awareness week which aimed to increase global awareness of antibiotic resistance (AMR) to encourage best practices among the general public, health worker and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread antibiotic resistance.

At Plera Wellness Plus, Salt room is made with salt coated walls, Himalayan salt bricks and a ground covered with loose salt to give a look like a salt cave. Halogenerator is installed to generate salt particles in the salt room.

The salt particles generated, once inhaled, it travels through the sinuses and respiratory tract and goes deep inside the lungs. It claims to absorb irritants, moisture, including allergens & toxins from the respiratory system and lungs. The salt particles put similar effect on skin by absorbing bacteria and other impurities responsible for many skin conditions. One session of salt therapy usually lasts from 30 minutes to one hour.

What our experience says:

Children respond to salt therapy very effectively. We offer salt therapy mixed up with fun where Children can play in the salt with buckets and spade or read their favourite book all while receiving the salt therapy treatment.

Salt therapy is claimed to be free from adverse effects because it doesn’t use any other component than Pharmaceutical Salt. In salt therapy, by inhalation salt enters in the respiratory tract, lungs and skin. It does not enter in stomach, kidney or heart, reducing probability of adverse effects.

According to Research Reports, Salt therapy procedures resulted in improvement of clinical state in 85% of mild and moderate asthma cases, 75% of severe asthma cases and 97% of chronic bronchitis and bronchiectasis. The number of common cold cases during cold season was reduced in half.
